A special exhibition taking place at Hakone's Okada Museum of Art looks at Japanese painting from the east to the west of the country, with a specific focus on works from Tokyo and Kyoto. Pieces from the likes of Taikan Yokoyama (1868 - 1958), Uemura Shoen (1875 - 1949), and Kiyokata Kaburagi (1878 - 1972) will be on display at the event.

The artworks on display will travel through the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras and explore how these revered Japanese artists expressed themselves whilst balancing tradition with innovation.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 2800 yen, and no advance reservations are required.

Getting there

The Okada Museum of Art is located around 3 minutes by taxi (or around 15 minutes on foot) from Kowakidani Station, which is served by the Hakone Tozan Line.

For those who opt to drive, on site parking is available for up to 80 vehicles.
