A special exhibition taking place at the Nara Prefectural Museum of Art looks at the works of Hiroshige Utagawa (1797 - 1858), with a specific focus on his "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" series. The event will also explore a range of other works depicting famous places in Japan, including pieces from the "Thirty-six Views of Tomitake" series by Katsushika Hokusai (1760 - 1849).

For those interested in learning more about the ukiyo-e art form, there will be two special lectures (in Japanese) during the event. One will be hosted by Hidetake Asano, the Director of Yamato Bunkakan, and the other will be hosted by Takato Miura, the curator of the museum.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 400 yen, and no advance reservations are required.

Getting there

The Nara Prefectural Museum of Art is located around five minutes on foot from Exit 1 of the Kintetsu Nara Station.

For those planning to drive to the museum, do note that there is no dedicated parking lot. There are various paid lots in the surrounding streets to choose from.
